Hey guys! Gabe Michael from Forge Apollo
here. I want to briefly talk about viral Videos.
When used correctly viral videos
are a great tool but shouldn't be
considered your entire strategy. We've
done viral videos before in the past for
ourselves and for our clients and some
of the past work that I used to do but
the truth of the matter is that it's
really hard to actually make a viral
video. Now, there are a lot of factors
that do come into place but it's
important to know that these are the
exceptions not the rules in creating
video for your marketing strategy.
First thing is as always it's always about the
content. The content has to be great and
it has to be authentic in order to go
viral. We've all seen the pepsi ad. We
know that it's inauthentic for many
reasons beyond just the content alone so
when making your content really think
about how you can be authentic to a very
small number of people and how can you
make the best possible video to that
particular niche. So let's say you're a
bodybuilding company. What do the people that
are in your community want to see what
are some of the things that are just
entwined into that committee that maybe
they will only get but also cross over to
a broader market. The next part of this
is timing. Timing is everything with your
video. I've seen videos that have been
killed just based on the days they're
launched because some big news story
breaks nobody cares about your little
video. So for evolution to bikini we
start out on the week before Memorial Day.
It's the perfect time to launch it a
like that because it was the unofficial
start of summer. The third thing you
should consider is foundational content.
sometimes I takes a long time and a lot
of videos before one actually sparks and
goes viral.
Having foundational content as the
backbone will support you, help you build
your community, but also set you up for
success once one video happens to go
viral or finally get to that point where
it starts to pick up traction through
YouTube's algorithms more videos will
follow. The next factor is outreach.
You've made a great video why would
somebody want to share this video that
you've made? It's an honest question just
because you made it you put your love
your sweat and your hard work and all of
your creative energy into it doesn't
necessarily mean that anybody else is
going to care. So when you're looking to
share your video you need to find those
publications and websites and
communities that already share content
that is similar to the video that you
have. Next and most important aspect of
making a video go viral is the hard work
we talk about outreach we've talked
about creating great content but one of
the most important things is putting the
sweat into it if you don't put the same
amount of energy into getting people to
watch and share your video why would
anybody else? To be honest I wouldn't
hedge my bets on just one video but
here's what I would do. I'd put in the work
and I would do a video inventory of
anything that I've ever made my company
has made and see what's missing in your
video library or on the YouTube channel
your Facebook page and go make those
videos first because without those
foundational elements how is somebody
supposed to know your broader story and
I know I said this in any other videos
but you'd have to know what your main
goal is because if you don't know what
your main marketing goal is in creating a
viral video if you're doing it just for
fun that's fine, but if you're really
hinging everything and your entire
budget on this one property it doesn't
matter how good it is because there's so
many other factor
to play. I'm not saying to take
viral out of your strategy I actually do
think it's a great my opening tool to
pull people into your sales funnel but
once they're in you have to have other
content that's laid out and you have to
know your full story. So to sum this up
having viral content is great, but your shouldn't hinge
your whole strategy on it.
Having foundational content is one of the
most important things and something you
need to build build and build over time
and then maybe one of those pieces
goes viral on its own or maybe some
of the viral confident that you are
going to start producing feed into this
other funnel. That drives people to learn your
entire brand story and also let's you hit
people on different touchpoints in many
different places across mobile and
across desktop any place that you can
actually go. So I hope this was helpful
in some fashion. If you have any questions please put
