Greetings Wargamers & Players, Welcome to Miniature War, I'm Meinkopt and in this painting guide we shall see how to give color to the Men at Arms from Bretonnia.
First we start giving color to the metal parts as the edges of the shield, the helmet and the blade from the halberd.
For this we mix Leadbelcher with Abaddon Black to use it as the base layer.
Next once the base it's dried, we apply a wash with Nuln Oil.
Now we give soft strokes with Ironbreaker Armor, in this way we create a worn out effect in the metal and we make it shine.
To add a little of dirt to the metal, we give a soft strokes with Agrax Earthshade and once dried, we repeat the step above and with a little of Ironbreaker we give soft strokes to all the metal.
Now we start to paint the colors of the uniform. For this we start with the blue and we use for this Kantor Blue.
You should keep in mind that we only paint the half of the uniform, the other half it's in red.
To create the form and level the light of the uniform, we shall mix Kantor Blue with Caledor Sky.
For the outlines we shall use pure Caledor Sky.
For the red, we shall give a base layer of Khorne Red and be careful not to paint the blue part.
Once the Khorne Red it's dry, we mix it in equal parts with Mephistone Red.
The final lights and outlines are going to be in Mephistone Red.
From here I would like to clarify. In the Men at Arms, except the color of the uniform, the other parts of the armor and the clothes are usually a combination of green and brown tones. Because there are differents miniatures, you can rotate the choices of tones and where you can put one green in one, and pass the brown.
In this case the leather protector that's over the shoulders are going to be painted green
The base layer it's from Castellan Green and lighter with Loren Forest.
For the studded leather armor we used Rhinox Hide for the base.
Then we mixed in equal parts with Mourfang Brown to hightlight the studded from the leather.
For the handle of the halberd, it was used a base of Stell Legion Drab.
And then the light was mixing Steel Legion Drab with Ushabti Bone.
For the skin, we mix Cadian Fleshtone with Doombull Brown for the base layer.
Later with this mix we add more Cadian Fleshtone to create the features of the face and skin.
For the final lights we add a little of Ushabti Bone.
