4 Tricks You Should ABUSE in Hearthstone - Duration: 5:25.

Hearthstone and other card games are pretty unique in the fact that even a relatively

new player can have the best tools they need the game, whether through building a budget

high tier deck, or by spending money.

Still though, the best decks aren't the only thing you need to do well on ladder,

and if you're spending lots of time playing high tier decks and not hitting high ranks

you might need to work on your general strategy a little bit!

That's why today we thought we'd talk to you about some tips and tricks that can

improve your overall skill and results!

Some of these might seem like pretty simple things, but they're definitely things we see

people mess up on ladder all the time, so let's get to it!

4 Take more time on your Mulligan A lot of players nowadays tend to just autopilot

for cards they've seen in mulligan guides or look for a good curve.

While there are definitely some decks where you can sort of auto-mulligan, like druid

looking for ramp, or aggro decks looking for their one and two drops, the mulligan phase

sets you up for the rest of the game, and making bad or thoughtless mulligan decisions

can lower your win rate a whole lot from what it could be otherwise.

You should think about what deck your opponent is likely playing, and what the common plays

are for that deck on the first couple turns of the game.

Then you should think about what your ideal responses are to those plays and mulligan

accordingly.

For example, you could keep a hand with a good curve as zoo, but if it has no flame

imps or ways to buff your one drop, you're going to have a hard time dealing with tunnel

trogg and northshire cleric, and so should mulligan for ways to contest those one drops

against priest and shaman.

3 Have a plan when you use the coin Probably the most common mistake at all levels

of play is not using the coin effectively.

You should think of the coin as a way to smooth out your curve, or in certain decks like miracle

rogue as a combo enabler.

Way too often people just coin a two drop and then hero power the next turn, or coin

a four drop and then hope that they draw something else to play the next turn.

Now a lot of you might be saying "thats a total noob mistake i would never do that"

but that's just a really obvious example to illustrate the point.

A lot of times your curve will be a lot more complicated, and also dependent on which cards

or what kind of start your opponent has, so again you need to be thinking about what your

opponent is likely to do, and how you're likely to curve out, and using the coin to

make that as smooth as possible.

2 Be more careful with Dirty Rat The next tip is a little bit more meta specific,

but for the love of god people need to stop playing their dirty rat against midrange and

control decks on turn two.

Too often it'll just pull a rag and you'll lose

the game.

Against aggressive decks it's probably ok, especially if you have AOE, but you still

have to be pretty careful with it.

Against pirate warrior it's usually safe, although if they pull a leeroy or a korkron

it's not great for you.

Against shaman you should only do it if you're sure their aggro, so if they played a pirate.

If they played trogg or coined totem golem, they could still be midrange, and then if

they pull a rag or like any five+ drop you probably just lose.

But against midrange and control decks you should definitely save dirty rat till you're

sure you can deal with the worst case scenario.

1 Work on weaving in your hero power This one kind of depends from class to class,

but especially for midrange or controlling decks, or zoo/face hunter for aggro, you want

to try to use your hero power as much as you can.

Now obviously you shouldn't use it over things like curving out, but your hero power

is renewable resource while cards in your hand are not.

If for example, you're playing hunter, and you don't use a kill command one turn, you

can always use it later.

But if you don't hero power that turn, that's effectively two damage that you'll never

get back.

Now obviously this is often outweighed by the fact that you can deal more damage by

developing minions or things like that, but in general you should try to balance playing

your cards and using your hero power so that you optimize the value from both.

Those are some general tips that might help if you're struggling to climb the ladder!
