What's up, guys.
It's your boy Eric TM.
So a lot of you, who follow my Instagram story
and see the progress of myself and my trainees,
ask me: "Hey Eric! I have a busy life. How do I get six packs like yours?"
Girls sometimes ask me:
"Hey Eric! I just want toned abs. How do I get it?".
Look, I know you are very busy.
You're probably a full-time student or you probably have a full-time job,
and you have a family to take care of
so you can't spend like 2 - 3 hours in the gym every day.
Alright.
It's the same for me.
In fact, I work even more than people who have a full-time job.
I often work until 11 pm every day, and then I read a book, and then I go to bed.
I know what it takes to get six packs as a busy person.
So I'm going to make a video series to help you get there
and this is the first video:
The Four Surprising Misconceptions that Stop You from Getting Six Packs.
In this video, I'm not even talking to people
who don't train and feed shit to their body every day.
I'm talking to the ones who are dedicated, the ones who work out every day,
the ones who try their best to eat clean but somehow, still don't get the results they want.
I'm probably talking to you.
And you are probably making one of the following four mistakes.
Misconception 1: Abs are made in the kitchen.
This can't be farther from the truth.
In fact, most of you can't get six packs because you spend a lot of your time in the kitchen
eating like a pig.
If anything, you need to get away from the kitchen for most of your days.
When you are in the kitchen, don't starve yourself by following some ridiculous shit
like no-carbs or all-juice diets.
If your body starves itself,
it's just gonna go look for food for the rest of the day,
and guess what, you end up eating even more junk food and get even less fit than you were.
Instead of focusing on the sheer calories,
you should focus on the quality of the calories,
and later on, in this video series, I will gradually show you exactly how to eat,
to get six packs, while still having a great social life.
Misconception 2: Doing the 100-situp challenge helps you get six packs.
Absolutely fucking not.
Training abs is actually one of the worst ways you can employ to burn fat.
Just look at your body.
The abs are such small muscles
compared to your legs, your glutes, your back, and your chest
So training abs don't burn that many calories.
Just because you feel pain in the muscle
doesn't mean the fat next to the muscle is being burned.
It also doesn't mean the muscle is getting any bigger.
What you need to do to get six packs is to
burn the fat first and then do heavy weighted ab training
to the point where you can only do 6 to 12 reps of every ab exercise
to build the size in your abs.
Doing 100-situp challenge, man, is only gonna increase your endurance for your abs.
It's not going to help you get six packs.
Misconception 3: Running gets you get six packs.
How many times in the gym when you see people religiously running,
you know, on the elliptical machine or on the bicycle.
Let me tell you, medium-paced cardio burns a lot of your muscles
and you need muscles to get six packs.
There are only two kinds of cardio that will help you burn mostly fat.
The first kind is slow cardio.
I'm talking about walking, man.
Walking not only helps you burn fat but it also helps you meditate along the way.
It helps you slow down your life.
However, the problem with slow cardio like walking is that it takes a lot of time
and a lot of us don't have time.
That's where the second kind comes in.
It's High-Intensity Interval Training.
In fact, I put together a super intense workout
that I use for my trainees - #erictmHIIT - linked in the description.
Check it out.
It's only 10 minutes.
Do this every morning after you wake up, before breakfast, or do it right after work.
That will help you burn fat much better and faster
than running or any other kind of medium-paced cardio that you are doing.
Misconception 4: I have six packs. It's just under all my fat.
Shut the fuck up.
You don't have six packs.
You have fat.
And you need to burn all that fat by doing heavy weight-lifting exercises, hiit as cardio,
and then you need to do heavy weighted ab training to get yourself six packs.
Look around you.
Look at your friends, your co-workers, your classmates.
How many of them have abs?
If you train like most people train,
you're going to get the body that most people have.
If you eat what your parents eat, you're going to get your parents' body.
Maybe your parents do have abs, then, by all means, eat what your parents eat.
My point is, it's not easy to get six packs or toned abs.
That's why when you do get it,
it's going to be a testament to your devotion, your resilience,
and your respect to your body.
