^- Today's our inaugural community celebration
of CMC Faculty Publications and Grants.
We're here to celebrate it and we're here to share it
with the CMC community.
Amazing, in depth work that our faculty do.
That they do in their scholarship
and they bring into their classrooms
to share with their CMC students so that we can all benefit
from this major contribution the scholarship makes
^to the intellectual life of the college.
^- So this one is an invited paper from
the most widely read journal in mathematics.
I recently wrote the first text book on quandle theory,
so this paper is just describing very briefly
what is a quandle.
^- EnvironLab Asia is a five college, cross-disciplined
^program to study environmental issues in Asia
and last year we received a grant from the EDU's foundation
to do one year of programming in which we had
conference, we research clusters
and we had this magnificent
and really enriching clinic trip to Singapore
and Borneo where we looked at indigenous groups
protesting against dams being built by the government.
^- Just published a book called Globalizing India
and the book is really about how India
is using global institutions to rise to power
and how globalization is changing people's interest
and ideas within India.
^- So I came out today to see all the CMC
^faculties research and I think it has been really
impressive the volume of research that our faculty
has produced over the past year.
We're lucky to go to a college
with such prolific faculty members.
